Ganoderma for Diabetes Mellitus

There were reports from scientific studies that Ganoderma is able to lower blood sugar level in diabetes mellitus patients. How does Ganoderma work, being just a food and not a medicine? The pancreas which is a small organ found just below the stomach is responsible in producing insulin every time food is taken in especially if it contains much sugar. Insulin is a hormone needed to carry the sugar that had been absorbed in the blood to be brought to the liver and to the different cells in the body for use in the production of energy. The absence of insulin will result in the starvation of the needed sugar of all body cells. The sugar then cannot be utilized and instead, will accumulate in the bloodstream but cannot enter the cells. There are conditions where the pancreas can fail in its function. It could be due to injury or infection. The lack of pancreatic cells may also be due to hereditary conditions or poor nutrition causing the deterioration of the pancreatic cells or cell death.

The main reason therefore for the uncontrolled blood sugar in diabetes mellitus is the lack or absence of insulin coming from a poor functioning pancreas. Making the pancreatic cells healthy is the best solution to the problem of diabetes mellitus and of course, to be combined with good eating habits and proper balanced nutrition. Ganoderma acts by simply nourishing and revitalizing the pancreatic cells so they will function efficiently in producing sufficient amounts of insulin for use by the body cells.

Diabetes mellitus is the leading cause of blindness among working-age people and the end stage kidney disease as well as limb amputation. It increases the risk of heart and blood vessel disease to two to sevenfold. There is a bright side however, in patients who are diabetic and that is, if their blood sugar is properly controlled. They can live a happy, healthier life like others who do not have one.◙
